You can read Closeout Desk without optional article memory. If you choose memory, this device can remember where you stopped in an article.

Storage inventory
Reading-feature storage
- ctd_privacy_v1 · first-party cookie
- Records preference version, reading choice and timestamp after a deliberate saved choice. Maximum 180 days, scoped to this website path. A later choice replaces it; browser site-data controls can remove it.
- ctd_reading_v1 · localStorage
- Optional article paths, reading positions and timestamps. Initialized only after reading-position consent, including an empty record on non-article pages. Entries at least 180 days old are ignored when read. Expired entries are removed on the next saved reading-position write, where browser access permits; each such write saves at most 30 records. Reading alone does not rewrite localStorage. Rejecting or disabling the option attempts to remove the record. Unused localStorage may remain until a later saved reading-position write, rejection or removal through browser controls.
- Question type, work topic and preparation selections
- Current-page memory only. The question-building exercise does not persist these inputs; Reset removes them from the current page.
Other website technologies
The question-building exercise and reading controls do not include analytics, advertising tags or third-party media players. Other WordPress plugins, embedded content and hosting services can operate separately. Reading-preference controls govern only the reading feature; they do not control those services or establish a complete inventory of the website.
WordPress sign-in and administration may use separate authentication cookies for signed-in users. These reading controls do not remove authentication cookies, email, server logs or records at linked websites. This list describes reading-feature storage and any additional details the publisher has supplied.
What the choices mean
The first-visit notice gives Accept optional, Reject optional and Settings equal visual treatment. Memory remains off until a valid choice enables it. You can reopen settings from the footer. Rejection or withdrawal attempts to remove this publication’s reading-position record, not other websites’ data or unrelated information on your device.
Ordinary navigation
The topic filter only changes the visible reading list in the current page; it does not save that selection. Search uses an ordinary website request and does not require optional reading memory. Do not put private payroll details into a search query.
When a preference cannot be saved
If the browser cannot save the preference cookie, optional memory stays off. The articles, directory and search remain available. Private browsing, browser cleanup or expiration can remove a preference and cause the notice to appear again.
Scope
The preference cookie is sent with matching website requests by your browser. Optional reading positions stay in localStorage. These controls do not manage another service, browser extensions or external pages reached through links. The Privacy Policy covers website delivery and editorial correspondence.
